Filming Procedures

The Royal Film Commission – Jordan provides comprehensive support for filmmakers, offering:

• Detailed and up-to-date information about filming in Jordan.

For Local Productions:

For Foreign Productions:
All foreign productions are required to partner with a local production services company or a local fixer to film in Jordan. Once the necessary application forms are submitted, our Production Services department will facilitate your project by issuing an official facilitation letter within three working days for filming at public locations. (Please check the time frame for other locations and requirements below:)

Scouting

The Royal Film Commission supports locations scouting by:

• Securing access to desired locations.
• Providing detailed information about the locations.
• Assisting with the scout itinerary.
• Connecting productions with local Location Managers.
• Matching locations to the script breakdown or reference images.

Carrying your equipment

If you need to bring handheld equipment from abroad, please fill out the following forms:

• The Equipment Agreement Form
• The Equipment List Form
• The Equipment Pledge.

* Carrying your luggage and handheld equipment applies for non-Jordanians only and does not apply for dual nationals (Jordanians or Jordanian residents in any other country.)

Shipping your equipment

Temporary Entry:
This applies to all identifiable filming equipment and accessories with serial numbers, such as cameras, sound equipment, and other non-consumable items. The temporary entry is valid for up to 3 months, with the possibility of extending it for an additional 3 months.

For temporary entry shipments, the following documents are required:

• Invoice and/or packing list for the shipped items/equipment, with Arabic translation and descriptions.
• Separate invoices and packing lists for temporary entry and exemption entry items.
• Air Waybill (AWB) for the shipped items/equipment.

Exemption Entry:
This covers all consumable filming supplies, such as office supplies, wardrobe, fabrics, makeup, and other consumable items.

Important Notes:

• The production company or the responsible production entity must appoint a shipping and clearance company to handle the customs procedures in coordination with the Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC).
• Separate invoices and/or packing lists must be provided for temporary entry and exemption entry, with all items translated and described in Arabic.
• Only the remaining consumable items need to be re-exported.

Please download and complete Military and Law Enforcement Support form keeping in mind that it takes a minimum of 14 working days to obtain approval.

The Jordanian Army will assign a representative to oversee the drone from arrival to departure, including the days of drone usage. During this period, the production must cover the representative’s transportation, accommodation (outside Amman), and food & beverage (F&B) expenses

An agreement must be signed between the production team and the Military Media Department upon the drone’s arrival to Jordan, The payment for the accumulated costs, based on the number of flight dates specified in the application, should be made in advance when signing the agreement

Cost of using Drone in Jordan

• A deposit fee of 1,000 JOD (approximately 1,410 USD) will be required, refundable upon departure from Jordan, to be paid to the airport customs department.
• Customs registration fees of 500 JOD (approximately 705 USD) must be paid to the airport customs department.
• A usage fee of 150 JOD (approximately 211 USD) per day for drone operation, to be paid to the Military Media Department.
