Jordan’s Official Submission to
the International Feature Film Category at the 99th Academy Awards
The Royal Film Commission – Jordan invites filmmakers and authorized representatives to submit feature-length films for consideration as Jordan’s official submission to the International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards.
RFC administers the submission process, conducts the administrative and technical review, and shares submissions that are complete for committee review with the Selection Committee.
The Selection Committee independently reviews the films and decides whether to select one film as Jordan’s official submission or to submit no film. RFC does not artistically evaluate, score, rank, recommend, or select films.
Selection by the Selection Committee does not confirm Academy eligibility or acceptance. Final eligibility and acceptance are determined by the Academy.

Applicants should allow sufficient time to complete and submit the form before the deadline. Starting the form before the deadline does not constitute submission. The completed form must be successfully submitted by the stated deadline.
Official Submission Channel
The official online submission form is the standard submission channel.
Film materials sent by email do not constitute an official submission unless RFC expressly authorizes an alternative submission method following a verified technical issue.
The email address oscars.submissions@film.jo may be used only for inquiries and technical support, corrections or missing materials when requested by RFC, withdrawal requests, procedural review requests, official correspondence, and an expressly authorized fallback following a verified technical problem.

Academy Rules and Basic Eligibility
Applicants must review the Applicant Submission Guidelines and the official Academy rules before submitting.
• The film must be a feature-length motion picture with a running time of more than 40 minutes.
• The film must have been produced outside the United States of America and its territories.
• Narrative, documentary, and animated feature films may be submitted.
• The original dialogue track and completed picture must be predominantly, meaning more than 50 percent, in a language or languages other than English.
• The submitted film must contain accurate and legible English-language subtitles.
• The film must meet the applicable qualifying theatrical-release requirements.
• The submission must provide sufficient information for Jordan to confirm that creative control of the film was largely in the hands of citizens, residents, or individuals with refugee or asylum status in Jordan.
• Applicants must disclose any nontheatrical public exhibition or distribution of the film before its qualifying theatrical release. This includes broadcast or cable television, pay-per-view or video-on-demand, DVD or streaming distribution, inflight airline distribution, and internet transmission. Under the Academy rules, prior public availability of this kind may render the film ineligible. Final eligibility and interpretation of the rules are determined by the Academy.

Qualifying Theatrical Release
The qualifying theatrical release must:
• begin no earlier than 1 October 2025 and no later than 30 September 2026;
• consist of at least seven consecutive days of public exhibition;
• take place in one commercial motion picture theater;
• be open to the public for paid admission;
• take place outside the United States of America and its territories;
• meet the applicable theatrical exhibition requirements; and
• be advertised and promoted in a manner considered normal and customary for theatrical feature-film distribution.
Applicants must provide evidence of the qualifying theatrical release, including the cinema, location, release dates, paid-admission basis, and relevant advertisements, listings, confirmations, or other supporting evidence.
Providing release information to RFC does not confirm that the Academy will accept the theatrical release as qualifying.
Scheduled Qualifying Releases
Films whose qualifying theatrical release is scheduled or has not been completed by the submission deadline must provide acceptable written confirmation at the time of submission.
The qualifying run must be completed no later than Monday, 7 September 2026.
Final proof of the completed qualifying theatrical release must be provided no later than Tuesday, 8 September 2026, 10:00 AM Amman time / UTC+3.
A scheduled-release submission is not finally complete for committee deliberation until RFC has received and verified the final proof.
In exceptional circumstances, a scheduled-release film may be made available to the Selection Committee for preliminary viewing to preserve committee review time. Preliminary viewing does not confirm completeness and does not authorize final deliberation before final proof has been verified.

Submission Requirements
Applicants must complete the official online submission form and provide the information and materials requested through it, including:
• submitter details, authority declaration, and written authorization where required;
• film title, production details, director, producer, and production company information;
• running time, film type, and original dialogue language or languages;
• confirmation that more than 50 percent of the dialogue is in a language or languages other than English;
• confirmation that the submitted film contains accurate and legible English subtitles;
• complete cast and crew credits in English;
• a secure private viewing link and valid access credentials;
• theatrical-release details and evidence, or scheduled-release written confirmation;
• creative-control information; and
• the required declarations, acknowledgements, and permissions.

After Submission
A submission receipt or reference number confirms receipt only. It does not confirm administrative completeness, sharing with the Selection Committee, selection, Academy eligibility, or Academy acceptance.
RFC will conduct an administrative and technical review. RFC may request corrections, replacement materials, clarification, or additional supporting information.
Requested missing materials and technical corrections must normally be submitted by Tuesday, 25 August 2026, 11:59 PM Amman time / UTC+3, using the update process or authorized channel identified by RFC.
Submissions confirmed as complete for committee review will be shared with the Selection Committee. “Complete for committee review” is an administrative status. It is not an artistic assessment or an Academy eligibility determination.
Selection Committee
The Selection Committee is formed in accordance with Academy requirements. Committee member names are confidential and are not published.
Before receiving access to submitted films, committee members complete conflict-of-interest and confidentiality declarations. Members must disclose actual or potential conflicts and must not participate in considering a film where recusal is required.
The Selection Committee independently reviews submissions that are complete for committee review, considers the films artistically, determines its deliberation and decision-making method, and decides whether to select one film or no film.
RFC does not participate in artistic assessment, comparative consideration, voting, or the final artistic decision. Committee discussions, individual views, votes, and deliberations remain confidential.
Single Submission
If only one film is submitted, it is not selected automatically. The film must still undergo RFC’s administrative and technical review and be independently considered by the Selection Committee. The Selection Committee may select the film or decide that no film will be submitted.
If a Film Is Selected
RFC will contact the selected film’s authorized representative and coordinate the country submission process.
The selected film’s authorized producer or representative must provide, certify, sign, upload, or deliver all materials required by the Academy within the required timeline. These materials may include:
• the signed Academy entry form;
• complete cast and crew credits in English;
• the director’s biography and photograph;
• evidence of the qualifying theatrical release;
• Academy viewing and streaming materials;
• a secure and password-protected viewing link;
• English subtitle file and English closed-caption file, provided separately in accordance with the Academy’s technical requirements;
• display artwork or a designated key frame;
• production and creative-control information;
• signatures, declarations, and confirmations; and
• any other information or technical assets required by the Academy.
The Academy submission deadline is Wednesday, 30 September 2026, 5:00 PM Pacific Time.
RFC coordinates and verifies completion of the country submission steps. RFC does not certify film-specific facts on behalf of the production.
Selection as Jordan’s official submission does not guarantee Academy eligibility, acceptance, shortlisting, nomination, or any other result. The Academy makes all final eligibility and acceptance determinations.
Procedural Review Process
An authorized submitter or authorized representative of a film that was not selected may submit a written procedural review request within five working days in Jordan from the date of RFC’s official announcement of the selection outcome.
The selection outcome means either the announcement of Jordan’s selected film or the announcement that no film will be submitted.
Procedural review requests must be sent to oscars.submissions@film.jo. The process is limited to procedural concerns and does not reconsider artistic judgment, committee deliberations, voting, comparative assessment, or the final artistic selection.

Confidentiality and Contact
Submitted information, documents, and viewing materials will be handled confidentially and made available only to authorized persons who require access for administration, technical verification, Selection Committee review, or the Academy submission process if the film is selected.
Viewing links, passwords, and access credentials are restricted. Selection Committee discussions, deliberations, individual opinions, and votes remain confidential.
